About after-sales questions and answers

Q: I bought one GM TECH2 and the TIS2000 software can’t be installed and no identification, what’s the problem?
A: If the TIS2000 you are trying to install is contained in the GM TECH2 software, then it is useless to install TIS2000 software.
To program electronic control unit, I advice you buy an extra TIS2000 to work with GM tech2.

Q: After receiving GM TECH2, I got some errors.
A: If it is Blue screen, just replace the Blue Screen Chip. If it is not the problem of Blue screen, please send us the self-test report to
check where the problem is; have no idea on how to operate self test? Refer the self-test manual at GM TECH2 “technical support /service”.

Q: GM TECH2 one button doesn’t work how to fix?
A: If you have new version GM tech2, there are two ways to solve: 1) we send you a new button to replace; 2) please send back to repair.
If you have old version GM tech2 installed with the newest software, the button maybe won’t work.

Q: When I use GM TECH2 for the second times, the tool starts to smoke, and my car voltage become 14V from 12V, what’s the matter?
A: Please follow the correct operation steps: before diagnosing, turn on the ignition and then connect the GM TECH2 with the car,
when the car starts you’d better test the voltage, because during this process a part of cars’ voltage will reach up to 24V or more,
especially the car which has a poor contact of electrical ground.
2.Sollution for Gm Tech2 TIS2000 failed to run Win7 Virtual Machine
Problem:
“I use a GM Tech II diagnostic tool or a gm MDI to attach it to the truck, its on a cd / dvd, its a program i got on-line to reprogram GM BCMS in my truck. my problem is I can load 2007 software [its called ”TIS2000 into my computer [it only runs on a ”win xp” machine”][yes it won’t run in xp mode on a win7 machine],but I need the update to 3/2008 or 8/2008,to get it to see my vin#, so I can add power adj pedals[and some other options, I can’t get the 3/2008 to load. ”

Engineers from obd2eshop.com give Solution as following:
Depending on your computer hardware, you could install XP and your app in a Virtual Machine (VM) from Windows 7. Once installed and configured, you would boot your computer like normal and start XP in a window.

VMware makes Virtual Machine software called Workstation v10. They have a trial, but expect money at some point. The second best option for VM software is called VirtualBox from Sun. It is free!
You would just need a compatible computer, a copy of Windows XP and time to learn the ropes and get your XP Virtual Machine (VM) up and running. Learning how to use it is a one-time thing and at that point you’ll be familiar with VM software in general. That is a huge benefit to have as a computer user.

At that point you would meet the requirements of the GM Tech 2 software and would install TIS2000 within the VM and use the virtual com/serial port to connect to your computer serial port (or USB).

HOW TO SOLVE GM TECH II SECURITY ISSUES
/upload/service/gm-tech2.jpg

Problem: I have a tech II with Saab v148.o card in it. I have tried from Globaltis(Cracked) and TIS 2000 (Hardware key) but cannot gain security access.
Tis2000 gives me the error “cannot connect with security server”
Globaltis just says “error” when trying to gain security access.
I know it is communicating with the tech ii, because during the security check the tech goes from the home screen to “downloading”.
I am using a laptop with a TRENDnet TU-S9 USB to Serial Converter running XP SP3. I have java version 6 update 12 running.

The only think I’ve noticed is the when starting globaltis it states “SAAB Automobile AB v146.00”. I have the 148 SAAB PCIAM card, do not know if that could be affecting it or not.

Car model and year:
2009 Saab 9-3 1.9 tid

General Car issue: non starter

Tool I used:

GM MDI Global TIS and tech 2

Trouble and what Global TIS and Tech2 find out:

They have read codes to do with ignition and immobilizer and found that the cim is not picking up the old or new keys in the switch he tells me that the chip in the key is not being energized so the cim can’t read the key.

Trouble analysis:

The chip in the key is read by the ignition switch, called the Ignition Switch Module (ISM). Maybe the fault lies there.

8.Customer feedback
I work for a Gm dealership and was a little skeptical at first about this GM tech2. After receiving very quick from seller
I tested it out on every platform, programming, system scans, live plot, remote functions, everything and it has matched everything my shops
factory 2000 dollar Tech 2 has done. Best money I’ve spent on a tool in a very long time!

This GM Tech 2 clone performs exactly the same as dealership scan tool. Everything listed in the sale was there.
This is obviously a knock off of the original tool but you would never know if someone did not tell you. It comes without any labels or stickers on it,
but they were included in a bag ready for you to put them on the tool and accessories. I have used this tool on a 2004 Pontiac grand prix and a 2006 grand
prix to perform diagnostics and set up a new body control module. I went through every screen, tried all the function tests and learn procedures.
No issues with this tool at all. Cables, plugs and accessories are all of quality construction.
I could not be happier with this purchase.

I have been very happy with this scanner, the cables can be a bit finicky at times, and I had to remove and reinstall the memory card several times to
get a good connection on it, but have had no issues at all other than that. I have used it on 2004 Pontiac Bonneville, Saab and Chevrolet Suburban all worked well.

I was pretty skeptical when saw these clone at cheap 250$-380$. Most dealers charge a $100+ diagnostic fee just to hook theirs up to your car, what a joke.
I got one English language software version with 32 MB Card, CANDI, TIS2000 and other diagnostic cables. And I hooked it up to test engine, ABS, transmission etc,
stored DTCs, Freeze Frame, live data, all the test results were displayed on the large, easy-to-read backlit screen.
Keeping the GM Tech 2 for half a year,
no blue/blank screen or communication issue. Now the device is in good condition.

Got my GM Tech2 today, it looks and functions well for a clone. The tech2 and CANDI module worked perfect to diagnose my bad HVAC air door actuator.
I have an older HP laptop running win7 and it has a serial port so has no problem to install software. Time will tell how this works out.

The tech2 clone has done everything I have used it for. I have check and cleared codes including freeze frame data. I used it to test injectors on my friends NOVA 5.3 swap.
It allowed me to pulse each injector so we knew they were not clogged.

Still no problems with this GM Tech2 clone. I was able to use SPS programming to update the theft module OS in my Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS.
And I found this tool can be used on OBD1 cars. I tried it to diagnose my friend’s 1994 Pontiac Trans Am, it worked!
Easy step to make Tech2 scan tool clone boot up for use

This is how to rework GM Tech2 PCB to make Tech2 scan tool clone boot up for use.

– Problem

Tech II clone not boot up (not turn on)

– Reason

The issue usually results from the DC to DC converter

This converter is a common internal component for the device GM TECH II

originally these come equipped with the “Meanwell SKE10A-05VT” and “BTCPower 4BE-01T-02”

you cannot longer purchase these items because they are not being manufactured anymore

You actually can find the “Meanwell SKE10A-05” but missing the “VT” and also missing 1 pin for the soldering points.

BEWARE this model dc to dc converter WILL NOT WORK

It may help you power on your device, but the power button among other programming features won’t work.

– Solution worked!

To replace DC to DC converter can avoid unpleasant surprises.

REC10-1205S/H2/M has a 6 pin connections, “Meanwell SKE10A-05VT” and “BTCPower 4BE-01T-02” have a 5 pin connections, is it not a problem when you change the component.

So, sort this out.

This list is for a DC to DC converter with the following specifications:

Input: 9~18VDC

Output: 5VDC 2.0A

– GM Tech 2 PCB before the DC to DC converter replacement

– Tech2 clone worked gain after the DC to DC converter replacement

tech2-before-dc-conventor-replacement

tech2-before-dc-conventor-replacement

– The important note: Tech2 not boot up when the car starts

So, how to fix a reboot Tech 2 when starting the car? The square dedicated native voltage Stabilizer, black spots, this is how it is better to feed on, immediately giving to drink block, then the main Board gently giving to drink lagged behind in her legs. By means of wooden toothpicks carefully remove the solder prepared under us new voltage regulator (mornsun VRB1205LD-15W DIP).

How to Use GM TECH2 Scanner to Program ECU with SPS in TIS2000
This is the steps on how to Use GM TECH2 Scanner to Program ECU with SPS (Service Programming System) in TIS2000 with usbkey.

Kindly notice: Before using the SPS, make sure that the Tech 2 scan tool and the pc contain the latest software, the battery of the vehicle is fully charged,
only the ignition is on power, and all cables are connected properly. TIS2000 can only work gm cars until 2007, and software must work together with TIS2000 USB key.
If you need to program Saab ECU, you had to use Saab TIS2000 and USB dongle.

Procedure:

Step 1: Instruction for TIS2000 software

Step 2: Data request

Step 3: Data exchange

Step 4: Program ECU

10.GM Tech2 clone program ECU with SPS in TIS2000
Here is the step-by-step instruction on programming GM (General Motors) ECUs with Tech2 scanner and SPS (Service Programming System) application in TIS2000.

NOTE:

Before using the SPS, make sure that the Tech 2 scan tool and the pc contain the latest software, the battery of the vehicle is fully charged, only the ignition is on power,
and all cables are connected properly. TIS2000 will not work on 2007 up GM, and software must work together with TIS2000 USB key. If you need to program Saab ECU,
you had to use Saab TIS2000 and USB dongle.

Main steps:

Step 1: Instruction for TIS2000 software

Step 2: Data request

Step 3: Data exchange

Step 4: Program ECU

Alternative Programming with “Pass Thru”

Check Programming result

Step 1: Instruction for TIS2000 software

1.Connect the Tech II to the pc.

Note: The hardware key (HWK) has to be registered prior to working with ‘Service Programming System’. To register a hardware key, the form that is enclosed with
the hardware key kit has to be filled in and sent to the address at the top. In case the form is missing, the document is also in the TIS 2000 newsletter (see icon in the
TIS 2000 tool bar). At first, the user receives a temporary code until the key is registered on the next TIS 2000 CD.

Hardware keys that have already been registered are still valid!

To register the hardware key select ‘Hardware Key Registration’ in the menu ‘Configuration’.

TIS2000 installation video guide

2.Start TIS 2000 on the pc.

3.Select the application ‘Service Programming System’ on the TIS 2000 start page.

4. On ‘Select Diagnostic Tool and Programming Process’ (picture below) screen make the desired selection for

1) the used Tech2 diagnostic tool

2) the reprogramming of an ECU that was not exchanged or the replacement/programming of a new ECU

3) the ECU location.
/upload/service/16091073193856.gif

5.Click “Next” button to continue.

Step 2: Data Request

  1. Connect Tech 2 scanner to vehicle. Power on device – “Tech 2” is displayed on the screen, then press “ENTER”.
  1. Turn ignition to ON without start the engine!!!
  1. Select “F1: Service Programming System (SPS)” in the main menu.
  1. Press “F0: Request Info” on Tech 2.
  1. If Tech 2 has already stored vehicle data they will be displayed now. In that case, Tech 2 asks you to either use the current data (hold data) or request further information from the ECU (continue).
  1. For the selection of “Next” the vehicle has to be identified as requested by Tech 2.

Note: Depending on the model year and the selected model either a reprogramming of the ECU (F0: Engine) or of the TCM (F1: Transmission) can be selected.

  1. During the Request Info the Tech 2 receives information from the selected device. If the ECU was replaced a “Request Info” has to be performed for the NEW unit. Since the new ECU is not programmed on delivery, the retrieved information is not complete. For that reason, TIS 2000 gives instructions as how to enter the missing vehicle data.
  1. Follow the instructions on the Tech 2. Then press “Exit” on the Tech 2, switch it off and disconnect it from the vehicle.
Free download GM TECH 2 TIS 2000 crack
Here, i wanna share something interesting with you all. I happened to get the GM Tech2 scanner software TIS2000 dongle crack version from mh****forum.

Usually, we users need buy TIS2000 dongle key for programming on saab cars

It is said that it is for ANY TIS2000 the dongle crack and NO NEED to buy any dongle key!

This is the TIS2000 download link: TIS2000 Dongle Crack!

https://mega.nz/#!kpcTEJzJ!1lr28OehiaMmRkgZPB0aykaPoxUOgA3j1CeLCDclfhA

The file that contained the software security dongle did work for me. When I updated the security access on the Tech 2 the TIS2000 still showed type 1.
I used the Tech 2 to add the components that had elevated security and it worked!

The setup instruction also shared by the donator. Just quoted.

1) Install software.

2) Run \Drivers\DDINST32.EXE and press “Express” to install Activator Dongle drivers.

(IF your PC DID NOT has LPT port you will took 1 “Error”! DO NOT bother!)

3) Replace original Id.dll and SCAControlUI.exe with patched in ..\Program Files\cosids\bin

4) Copy files from folder Dongle to c:\Windows\System32

5) Enjoy!

In the end, i collect some typical questions and answers . Hopefully, help you also.

Q: What is number of your COM port? Which you are using to connect Tech 2?

A: I have 2 available com ports in my pc (1 native and 1 usb to serial), both work without any issue.

Q: I keep getting registry access error messages when I try to install the DDINST32.EXE file.

A: You should have a real LPT-port on the computer.
Another and better solution is to download/install Saab GlobalTis from this site and then ask for activation in the right thread, that will for sure solve the dongle problems.

Q: Anyone can help with issues when add BCM or ICM3 and help confirm things with crack for GM Tech II tis2000?

A: I updated and add back a lot of modules. After every module update, I would add it back right after the update complete before I went ahead and update another module. I don’t know why your Tech2 require security access level 2. When I updated mine, only security access level 1 is required.
Your are suppose to copy the two files from dongle folder to C:\Windows\System32.
There should be 2 other files “Id.dll and SCAControlUI.exe”, Copy that to C:\Program Files\cosids\bin and overwrite the 2 files.

Enjoy!
How to Disable Alarm on Saab 9-3 by GM Tech2
Here’s my personal review on GM Tech2 clone diagnostic scanner with my Saab 2003 9-3. Big thanks to those who help me a lot in the thread.

Model:

Saab 2003 9-3

Saab 2004 9-5

Issue:

the dreaded “alarm randomly going off” issue on my 2003 9-3

Purpose:

to diagnose and/or disable the alarm

Considering the following:

GM Tech 2 scan tool Link here

I also have a 2004 9-5. I’m starting tho think that it would be wise to invest in a tech2. as I usually do most of my own repairs.

Puzzle:

Is there some other Saab-specific card or software I need on top of this product?

Suggestion from folks:

You will need the Tech 2 and Saab 32MB card (specify when buying clone) listed in the link above. Those two alone should be able to read DTCs, I believe. To get security access and make changes via Tech 2, you will need an older Windows XP laptop with built in serial port – a newer computer running a virtual machine program & serial to usb adapter should also work – and the Tis2000/GlobalTIS software.

Personal opinion: The Tech 2 in the link you posted is priced a bit higher than most ($349 vs $319). You might want to read back a few pages in this thread for some links to other sellers with better pricing and more sales.

My GM Tech2 scanner hq clone is paid for $319. It is with with a 32MB card and TIS2000 software CD.

Eidt: Tech II review:

Received the parcel today. All are packed well in a box and the machine looks good…. I will try it tomorrow and update here… I should be working good i think.
