SP23-B is the best Tech2 with Black Carry box, more stable

SP23-C1 is Same as SP23-B. But cheaper than SP23-B.

SP23-B3 is the SP23-B with carton box and best quality

SP23,SP23-C is the same as SP23-B, it also includes the Black carry box, but comes from another manufacture.

SP23-1 is the most cost effective one,it is with carton box, will help you save much more money.

An industry change in protocol from OBD II to Controller Area Network (CAN) has begun. In order to perform diagnostics on a vehicle that uses the CAN interface; you will need the Tech 2 Flash and a CAN diagnostic interface module. The module connects between the Tech 2 Flashs diagnostic link cable and the OBD adapter. Once the module is connected, it can be used on all GM vehicle applications,even those vehicles using other platforms such as OBD I and OBD II.

As for reading parameters regarding those controllers, it is theoretically compatible, advice you have a try.

A: Yes, you can use GM TECH2 to diagnose climate control programmer, when it has communication GM Tech2 can send commands to the modules.

About after-sales questions and answers

Q: I bought one GM TECH2 and the TIS2000 software can’t be installed and no identification, what’s the problem

A: If the TIS2000 you are trying to install is contained in the GM TECH2 software, then it is useless to install TIS2000 software.
To program electronic control unit, I advice you buy an extra TIS2000 to work with GM tech2.

Q: After receiving GM TECH2, I got some errors.

A: If it is Blue screen, just replace the Blue Screen Chip. If it is not the problem of Blue screen, please send us the self-test report to
check where the problem is; have no idea on how to operate self test Refer the self-test manual at GM TECH2 “technical support /service”.

Q: GM TECH2 one button doesn’t work how to fix

A: If you have new version GM tech2, there are two ways to solve: 1) we send you a new button to replace; 2) please send back to repair.
If you have old version GM tech2 installed with the newest software, the button maybe won’t work.

Q: When I use GM TECH2 for the second times, the tool starts to smoke, and my car voltage become 14V from 12V, what’s the matterA: Please follow the correct operation steps: before diagnosing, turn on the ignition and then connect the GM TECH2 with the car, when the car starts you’d better test the voltage, because during this process a part of cars’ voltage will reach up to 24V or more, especially the car which has a poor contact of electrical ground.

The difference between SP23, SP23-B, SP23-C and SP23-B3:

1.These Tech 2 scanners are made by different manufacturers.

2.The SP23-C has the best quality, then SP23-B and SP23-B3, then SP23.

3. SP23, SP23-B, SP23-C are with plastic storage case, which is quite heavy and costs more shipping cost, if you don't need the case, we recommend you use SP23-B3, which is with carton case and is 5.8kg less.

4.The Tech 2 includes the software which is put in the 32MB card. Each card contains one model, you can buy individually if want more.

How to use GM Tech 2 to adjust steering wheel control(share from a customer of eOBDShop)

You need so some preparation job in order to achieve this.

–Get the corresponding software before purchase. I mean GM Tech2 is 6 software alternative. Like me, choose Opel software.

— Factory radio has to be installed and have your radio/ immobilizer pin code read

— Tech2 comes with the Candi module and has to have the interface plugged in

–Tech2 can’t have any other GM software installed other than the Opel software card

First of all, you should install the latest software and welcome the main program. The biggest advantage of Tech2 is that it can work without PC/computer by just follow the screen instruction. After that follow the CIM (column integration module) which will ask you for your four digit radio pin number. If you don’t not know or forget your radio pin code number, ask help for the dealer ship or get a pin code reader to read it out.

Then you will be able to see a menu that has steering wheel controls listed at the top and you have to activate the feature. If you fail to do this, just try and locate the CIM module menu.

First time when I tried to find the controls in the infotainment menu, seemed Layoira suggested but failed to locate them there. But soon I featured out that it doesn’t mean Layoira was wrong but maybe she used different software than the current version. Another thing for thought is that the CD30 factory radio did work with the steering wheel controls and the DIC display for those wanting to retain their factory radio.

There are basically three factory steering wheels for this car and two of them have steering wheel controls. I found mine on e-bay’s UK site under Vauxhall Astra.
